Country Joe's Testimony at Trial

Some Woodstock Trivia

COMMITTEE TO DEFEND THE CONSPIRACY
339 LAFAYETTE STREET
NEW YORK, N.Y.
(212) 674-8686

August, 1969

To our friends in the music world:

Enclosed you will find some material relating to our trial for conspiracy which starts September 24th in Chicago. The brown brochure will give you an idea of why we went to Chicago just one year ago this month. It also gives a general outline of the type of trial we intend to conduct.

You can imagine the expense of such a trial. Money has been tough to raise. It seems that most people are content to let the government and Mayor Daley seek their revenge on the eight activities even though they feel that the police were to blame for the riot. In fact, the official government Walker Report terms the whole thing a "police riot".

We hope that after you read some of this material you'll decide to help us out. Make a check out to the "Committee to defend the Conspiracy" and return it with the filled out coupon from the bottom of the "WANTED" ad. Also, let us know if you can help out with a benefit or in some other way.

If you want to talk with some of us or members of our staff directly, drop by Movement City in the camping area. It would be good to see you now cause we might not get another chance until we're out of prison in about 1980.

Freedom,
