Newman's Drug Store

A community gathering spot of this type could be found in almost every small and large town across the nation. When someone needed medicine in the middle of the night, our beloved "Doc Ed Newman" could be counted upon to get out of bed and open to provide it. Many is the scraped elbow and injured knee of a small child that was patched up by our Doc....

His store was the hang out for the local teenagers who would listen to Chubby Checker and Elvis on the Jukebox till closing time came. A big Chocolate Egg Cream or a Cherry Coke could be had from the soda fountain for a quarter. He never complained about the Kids reading all the comic books and putting them back on the rack unpaid for. There was a clothing department and a toy store in another part of the store.We are sure that "Doc" is still making Egg Creams in Heaven
