Grace Coddington at the Cottonwood

If you were fortunate enough to have been raised in a small town, we are certain that you will have had a similar place that was the congregating spot for the teenagers. Our place was called "The Cottonwood". The Mistress and Mother Superior of our place was Grace Coddington. This wonderful and patient lady provided us a place where we could socialize and have fun without getting into trouble. She was a friend and advisor, a Dear Abby who helped us get past that broken summer romance. A lender of a couple of dollars for gas in the old car. God Bless the memory of this wonderful Lady.
The pictures on this page show the Cottonwood in its heyday in the 1960's and take you through time to a point where it has been closed up for many years, and finally to the hour of our Cottonwood's bittersweet demise. cottonwood3.jpg (23424 bytes)

Last Day of Cottonwood Diner

It was really a bitter day, but in keeping with the concept that for every death there is a birth, upon this ground there will soon be a great new cafe` called "The Fat Lady". The "Fat Lady" is being brought to life by the talented Ms. Judith Maidenbaum. The windows from the Cottonwood have been saved and will be refurbished and once again we will be able to enjoy a cool drink and have a "Nosh" while looking out over beautiful Kauneonga Lake. Come and join us there soon.

This is the progress on the new "Fat Lady" cafe: when finished, a grand time will be had by all
